The Mertens Family

Hello, my name is Stephen Mertens. I’m a technology and graphic design enthusiast with just enough free time to maintain a website on my lunch break. I currently work as an IT Project Manager in Springfield, Ohio and I’m a Web Development student at Franklin University.

Hi, Stephen! I loved your video of Old and Now Springfield. It looks like it took a lot of work to bring that all together, but so glad you stuck with it!

I was wondering… only cause you look just like the Mertens I went to school with… if you are a young brother of Susan and/or TA Mertens. Susan married Gary Brown years ago and, last I heard, TA was married to an Asian girl… can’t remember her name unfortunately though.

I sure would appreciate a response on this as soon as you can, Stephen. Or maybe a Facebook invite from Susan would be great.

    Thanks and take care,
    Shelly :)

    Hey man,
I don’t know if you remember me or not, but you have got to be TA Mertens son! I’ve known your dad since our Franklin Jr. High days! I’ve been in Tennessee now since May of 1978, but the last time I was in Springfield, last June for our HS reunion, I couldn’t find a phone number or didn’t get to contact your dad or mom. Just give him a big “hello” from me, and tell him to email me or something. I’m on Facebook. I plan on coming up there in May, and I’d love to touch base with him.

  • Hey Stephen, Darcy turned me on to your web page. I’m going to check it out. The page is looking great. I’m a little rusty on the web graphics. Where should I go to get started on my own page? I’m interested in doing some stuff to keep busy.

I went to a website this a.m. and found LOTS of pictures of historical Spfld. I just went to Google and put in Historical Springfield, Ohio. Thought you might be interested. Judy

  • Kevin Oates says:

Kevin Oates here, just wanted to let you know I am a fan of your stuff on Springfield 5. I am at the library looking at your web site. Back in the 70′s I was an art director at Leo Burnett advertising in Chicago and worked at NCR doing computer graphics in the 80′s. But no longer doing graphics now. Your downtown Springfield time lapse is the coolest. Keep up the good work. Also the past present photos of Springfield are great. Hope to meet you someday in person.

    • Stephen Mertens says:

Hello, Kevin. Thank you very much for reaching out. I appreciate the kind words, I’m glad you like the photographs. The Un Mundo Cafe at the Heritage Center will be displaying some of my photographs during the month of January. I’m not sure when the opening night is yet but perhaps you can attend and we can meet then. Thanks again, Kevin.
